Master of Arts Program in Criminal Law and Criminal Sciences

Language of the Program: Arabic.

Duration of Study: Two academic years (four semesters).

Tuition fees: 100,000 Saudi Riyals.

Master of Arts Program in Criminal Law and Criminal Sciences

Modern criminal law is concerned with combating and reducing the criminal phenomenon since it causes various dangerous damages to society. In response to this issue, NAUSS established this program in order to develop specialized personnel to combat this phenomenon and reduce its effects by addressing it from legal and social points of view.



1 Special Admission Requirements:

  • Holding a bachelor's degree in law (regulations). Degrees in Islamic sharia and Islamic studies, social sciences, political sciences, administrative sciences, security sciences, and military sciences may also be accepted, provided the supplementary semester is successfully completed with a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.50 out of 5.00.
  • Successful completion of a personal interview.

​ Graduation Requirements

Successfully completing the required program hours with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 out of 5.00 within the specified timeframe necessary to fulfill the requirements for obtaining the academic degree.​

​ Program Classification

The process of adding the program to the Saudi Standard Classification of Occupations is currently underway.​



2 Program Objectives:

  • Keeping up with modern developments in criminal law and its potential contribution to serving Arab society to meet its needs and aspirations.
  • Developing quantitative and qualitative scientific research skills, as well as intellectual and critical skills in criminal law and criminal sciences.
  • Establishing the procedural principles and foundations that govern criminal proceedings.
  • Deepening knowledge of criminal phenomena and methods to combat them to ensure the achievement of prompt justice.
  • Preparing qualified experts and cadres in criminal law and enhancing their legal capabilities.

3 Expected Learning Outcomes:

  • Conducting research and studies in the field of criminal law and criminal sciences using scientific methodologies and providing expert consultations in these fields.
  • Analyzing criminal texts related to cybercrime, terrorist crimes, and organized crimes, and their various manifestations, especially through national and international laws, in a rigorous scientific manner.
  • Drafting investigation reports and executing criminal investigation procedures with high proficiency.
  • Identifying fundamental characteristics and modern methods of criminal rules of evidence and the underlying principles, particularly in comparative criminal systems.
  • Exploring the causes of crime in organic, psychological, and biological terms, and the role of the victim in addition to the characterization of crime.
  • Diagnosing and analyzing international criminal problems and issues with a cyber and transnational character and providing effective solutions.
  • Interpreting and applying texts related to criminalization and punishment and imposing criminal judgments on various criminal cases based on theoretical and practical legal knowledge.
  • Interpreting advanced and specialized legal principles and theories in branches of criminal law and criminal sciences, as well as mechanisms of international judicial cooperation.
  • Drawing comparisons between stages of criminal procedures, analyzing criminal lawsuits, and evaluating elements of criminal judgments.
  • Gaining a comprehensive understanding of criminal law and criminal sciences, comparative criminal laws, and Islamic criminal legislation.
